The RSM Story 

RSM is an audit, tax, and consulting firm founded in 1926 by Ira B. McGladrey in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. After its establishment, the founder became a prominent figure in public accounting in Iowa and also served as President of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants, chairman of the Iowa Board of Accountancy, and a member of the Rules Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Recruitment Process 

The first step to getting a job at RSM is to fill out the relevant job application form on its official website. The candidates will be asked to provide details like educational achievements, work experience, relevant skills, etc. It will be reviewed and reverted within five to seven working days. The next is to complete an online situational assessment and the candidates will be given a few days to complete this assessment. 

After completing the assessment, the applicant will be invited to an online video assessment that will be followed by an invitation to attend a virtual assessment. This will include RSM’s introduction and interview with the company’s managers. Once the candidate has completed all these steps, the selected ones will be called to come to the office and discuss the offer details.

Controversies 

One of the major controversies associated with RSM is when the company was charged with violating Auditor Independence Rules in 2019. The Securities and Exchange Commission charged the firm in connection with over 100 audit reports involving at least 15 audit clients. According to the charges, the company represented that it was ‘Independent’ in audit reports issued on the client’s financial statements but the committee found that the firm along with its associated entities provided non-audit services to affiliates of the company’s audit clients.
