As an Academic year intern, you’ll get immersed in exciting work, experience their unique NBCU culture, and feel real support and guidance for 2 whole semesters.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to: 

The Global Operations and Technology team oversees the distribution, expansion, and syndication of NBCU’s digital properties including live streams and VOD assets to internal and external distribution partners and platforms for the Digital Network Operations Center (DNOC) organization. This team is responsible for expanding and scaling the DNOC to provide best-in-class support for the Global Streaming Platform portfolio. This includes effective staffing and workforce forecasting across different internal employee groups and external vendors. In addition, the team also oversees automation, processes, product ownership, and tooling to support operational efficiency improvements. 

The Global Operations and Technology Intern will rotate through the Global Operations and Technology team to get first-hand exposure to the exciting work they do.  The Intern will see the “behind-the-scenes” of how live sports are streamed, learn the technology of live and video-on-demand (VOD) streaming of television and movies, as well as the exciting technology that supports these activities, which this team is directly responsible for.  In addition, the Intern will be invited to join calls with partners and vendors around the world and participate in relationship stewardship activities for these critical relationships.

Training & development

Through this internship, you will gain firsthand exposure to the distribution and syndication of digital properties, including live streams and VOD assets. You will also learn about workforce forecasting, operational efficiency improvements, and relationship management with global partners and vendors, providing valuable insights into the technology and processes supporting live sports streaming and digital content distribution.

Salary & Benefits

The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00, while for graduate student interns, it is $35.00.

About you

Basic Requirements:

• Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2024 through April 2025). December 2024 graduates are not eligible for their 2024-2025 Academic Year Program. 
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits). 
• Must be authorized to work in the United States throughout the entire duration of the internship (September 2024 to April 2025). Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. 
• Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 16, 2024, to April 18, 2025.  
• Must be working from a location within a U.S. state during all hours worked.

Desired characteristics:

• Students with a class standing of junior or above are preferred. 
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
• The Intern must be proficient in email, Slack and Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
• The Intern must have a basic understanding of Internet technology and functioning.

Academic year internship program: 

• Applications Close: April 26th at 11:59 pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – applications could close earlier due to applicant volume!  
• Program Dates: September 16, 2024 – April 18, 2025. 
• Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. The exact schedule is to be determined based on business needs.  They will do their best to accommodate course schedules. 
• Format: The opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Miami, FL.
