Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc. is an American multinational hospitality company founded in May 1919 by Conrad Hilton. Conrad Hilton purchased his first hotel in 1919, Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas and it had 40 rooms. With time, he bought more hotels in Texas and, in 1925, the Dallas Hilton became the first hotel to use the Hilton name. In 1927, Hilton expanded its businesses to Waco, Texas by opening the first hotel with air-conditioning in public areas and cold running water. 

Hilton stepped into high-end luxury hotels in 1943 by purchasing the Roosevelt Hotel and the Plaza Hotel. With these two hotels, he established the first hospitality company to further expand business in the United States. The company was incorporated in 1946 as the Hilton Hotels Corporation and also began trading shares on the New York Stock Exchange.
