Your role

This is what you will do:

• The intern for R&D IT is a business partner between the R&D business unit, its underlying business units, and IT teams, to determine business needs, and define business requirements to develop technology solutions.
• The intern for R&D IT will engage with the team and will collaborate with the formed team(s) to identify an experiment as their summer project that will help advance Alexion R&D’s capabilities and provide a pathway for greater efficiency in their processing.

You will be responsible for:

• Gathering requirements for technology projects and enhancements with R&D stakeholders.
• Facilitating the action of IT deliverables by the Software Development Lifecycle, including testing, execution, and technical verification.
• Partner with business leads and technology partners to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements into technical requirements.
• Partners with business lead to conduct user acceptance testing and gain solution sign-off.
• Document user manuals (system) to describe application usage by the R&D user community and operating procedures.
• Organize and lead meetings and workshops to ensure conversations with all the key business stakeholders involved are aligned with the overall strategy and approach. Ideally seeking overall consensus and full and accurate representation of Business Stakeholders.

Education: 

• Major in computer science, life sciences, data sciences, business administration, mathematics, information systems/technology, computer engineering, privacy or a related field.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship. Alexion will not sponsor employment visas for this role.
• The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment.

• Novice understanding of the R&D process within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Novice understanding of clinical operations and practices.
• Experiences with Change management.
• High level of proficiency in MS Office suite including Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
