Your role
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Creatively solve multimodal transportation problems involving emerging technologies in the transportation industry (e.g. CAV, EV, TNC, etc.).
Analyze a wide range of transportation data and assist with technical analyses, feasibility studies, and other transportation reports or memorandums.
Use ArcGIS to assist with mapping and spatial analysis tasks.
Perform data collection, processing, and analysis using software such as PowerBI, Tableau, ArcGIS, Python, R, and Excel.
Create graphic designs (presentations, flyers, and/or websites) using software such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and ArcGIS Experience Builder.
Performs work by agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Prepare and give effective presentations.
Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Training & development
As a Traffic Intern, individuals will learn to analyze transportation data, utilize emerging technologies, and develop proficiency in software tools like ArcGIS, PowerBI, and Python, enhancing their skills in traffic engineering and problem-solving within a collaborative team environment. You will also gain experience in conducting feasibility studies, creating presentations, and graphic design, contributing to your overall professional development in the transportation industry.
Salary & benefits
The hourly range for this position is $16.52 - $22.71/hr.

About you
Minimum requirements:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Planning with the intent to continue after the internship unless graduating.
Candidates must have completed one year of study in their program.
Preferred qualifications:
Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Planning.
Transportation Planning skills through academic or work experience.
Fluent in spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
Basic knowledge of industry-standard computer software for the position such as ArcGIS, PowerBI, and Tableau.
Experience in traffic simulation using software such as TransModeler, VISSIM, and Synchro.
Experience in engineering designs using software such as Microstation, SignCAD, AutoTURN, and AGI32.
Basic understanding of travel demand modelling and basic experience with modelling software such as TransCAD, Cube, and DynusT.
Understand basic programming concepts and have basic programming skills.
Self-motivated individual with strong organizational and analytical skills.
Good communication skills and team spirit.

This position requires a hybrid work schedule which includes in-office work in Houston, Texas.
