Your role

What to expect:

This position is expected to start in person around August or September 2024 and continue through the entire fall term (i.e. through the end of 2024) or into early 2025 if available. They ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.

About the team:

Their team is aligned around three pillars - Design, Build and Operate. Focused on optimizing the space they have, finding the best solutions to their immediate-term expansion needs, and devising and driving their long-term strategy. All of this is under the guiding principle of sustainability.

What you’ll do:

  • Project Start-Up task tracking including contracts, proposal letters, work authorizations, scopes of works, etc.
  • Early Project Phase tasks including but not limited to programming data worksheets, project filing, creation/maintenance of various spreadsheets, maintenance of logs (contracts, work authorization, etc.), meeting coordination, and preparation of meeting agendas and meeting notes.
  • Construction Documentation/Administration Phase tasks include file sharing, print coordination, logging RFIs & submittals, and QA/QC documents.

Project execution tasks include:

  • Contributing technical expertise to project drawings and designs.
  • Managing the planning and design stages of construction projects. 
  • Preparing work schedules in collaboration with the project manager. 
  • Liaising between contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Overseeing the construction process in the field.
  • Coordinating inspections with AHJ and documenting.
  • Ensuring that the construction project is completed on time and within budget.
  • Documenting processes and keeping detailed construction logs.
  • Presenting construction project progress updates to clients and senior managers.   
  • Document field conditions via measurements, drone photos, etc.

  • Construction experience or industry knowledge.

  • General knowledge of reading construction drawings.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and willingness to take on multiple projects at once.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week in person. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.
