Your role

Seeking highly motivated engineering students who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Interns in the team work directly with full-time engineers and support multiple, high-impact projects which will involve implementing existing techniques, developing new techniques, and analyzing existing data to rapidly recognize and solve key process upsets/deviations and performance gaps.

Training & development

The Internship Recruiting Team is driven by the passion to recognize emerging talent. The year-round program places the best students in positions where they will grow both technically and personally through their experience working closely with their manager, mentor, and team. Internships are in-person for 40 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. 

Compensation & benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. The salary range for this position is between US$14- US$22 per hour. As an employee, you'll also receive the following benefits:

Career progression

The team qualifies materials before cell production by examining material-level metrics and correlating those metrics to cell-level performance. Aspects of the qualification include safety, the beginning of life performance, cost, and material degradation.

About you

  • Currently working towards an MS or PhD degree in a relevant engineering program such as Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Be available to work as a full-time intern for at least 6 months or more, starting May 2023. 
  • Experience with physical/chemical/electrochemical analysis techniques for high-Ni cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries. 
  • Considerable knowledge of cell chemistry, cell testing, and cell degradation. 
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Strong data analytical skills 
  • Genuine curiosity and willingness to learn new concepts and methods, design and execute experiments
