Tesla, Inc. is an American multinational automotive and clean energy company based in Austin, Texas. Tesla was established by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning as Tesla Motors in July 2033. It was named to give tribute to inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla. In 2004, Elon Musk became the largest shareholder in the company by investing $6.5 million. He has been the CEO of the company since 2008. 

In 2009, the company began manufacturing its first car model, the Roadster sports car and later came with the Model S sedan in 2012. The company introduced many models year after year but the Model 3 is the all-time best-selling plug-in electric car worldwide.
