Your role

Your team:

The Manufacturing Engineering team, based in Reedsville, PA, consists of 30 engineers with diverse backgrounds and expertise.  The Manufacturing Engineering team collaborates closely with Operations, R&D, Purchasing, and Q&R locally and globally. 

Duties and responsibilities will include:

Based on the successful candidate’s experience and educational background, he/she, after a brief orientation, will be assigned an independent project(s). These projects range from process development, cost reductions, improving quality, or improving business practices. The candidate will be expected to research the issue, develop a solution, and implement that solution. At the end of the project, the students should expect to present their findings, recommendations, and results to peers and management. 

  • Provide technical support to resolve manufacturing and quality problems, including yield and nonconforming products.  Drive corrective action with appropriate and detailed follow-up.
  • Identify, analyze and implement cost reduction projects, cycle time improvements, and lean manufacturing techniques to improve product cost structure.
  • Execute design and process verification activities, including statistical analysis, similarity, and testing.
  • Work collaboratively with SCE to support/develop and transition new processes into manufacturing.
  • Identify, specify, and coordinate the installation of new manufacturing equipment and upgrades for process improvement. 
  • Complete process validation for new equipment.

Training & development

Interns will gain hands-on experience in resolving manufacturing and quality issues, implementing cost-reduction projects, and executing design verification activities. You will also learn to collaborate with cross-functional teams, support new process transitions, and coordinate the installation of manufacturing equipment, enhancing your skills in problem-solving and process improvement.

Salary & benefits

The hourly pay range for this position is $24.00 to $28.00, plus overtime eligible.  The base pay may vary depending on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

About you

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be an engineering student currently enrolled in a technical degree program. 
  • Typical majors include: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Science, and Biomedical Engineering 
  • Must have very strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Must be fluent with MS Office software. 
  • Experience with statistics is a plus.
  • This Co-op opportunity is a 6-month term from either January to June or June to November.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
