Your role

Position description:

NBC Connecticut is looking for a team player to work with their Producers. As a Producer intern, you will work side-by-side with their team to learn and contribute with the following:

  • Participate in daily planning meetings.  Contribute ideas for news programming based on the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.  
  • Be present in the control room during the news program to observe communication among the producer, director, and production personnel.
  • Use website and social media tools to monitor and report news, and find sources and leads for stories.  Monitor mainstream and social media sites for story ideas and competitive intelligence. 
  • Write assigned segments, which may include digital newscasts.

About you

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
  • In-Person/ hybrid Must be willing to work at the station in West Hartford, CT.

Desired characteristics:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Pursuing a major in Broadcast Journalism.
  • Responsible, punctual, creative, and professional.
  • Knowledge of all digital platforms.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed.
