Your Role

SNY Operations Interns will have an opportunity to work in one or more of our locations; the office, our studio, and remote events. Interns will assist in a wide range of the station's operations and the responsibilities will include:

Operations office/studio:

  • Distributing and updating production documents, schedules, misc. paperwork.
  • Running errands to pick up supplies and materials for remotes.
  • Observing in the studio control room and in the studio setting how the network produces live on-air programming in conjunction with live news remotes.
  • Observing and meeting with other depts. by appt. (newsroom, programming, accounting, marketing, sales, traffic, etc.).
  • Research locations, teams, and towns for operations tactical planning.
  • Interface with all areas and levels of internal and external contacts, sr. management, talent, and others in a professional manner.
  • Library Data Entry for our SNY Library System including taping, screening, and organizing games/inventory of tapes for Mets Games.
  • Assist in planning and organization of the annual crew BBQ.

Operations remote (such as Mets, and UConn basketball):

  • Light general office work, answering phones, faxing, running errands for the production staff, etc.
  • Providing truck with Media/PR updates and team notes, lineups, etc.
  • Assisting roving reporters when necessary to help ease movement around the stadium.
  • Observing in the truck and out in the field with a roving reporter to see how the network produces live sports game coverage.
  • Fall interns get a chance to visit the Jets production team for one week to observe how a game week is covered from post-Sunday game coverage to the Thursday night Jets programming.

Training, Development & Rotations 

NBCUniversal piloted LinkedIn Learning, which personalizes skills development for every employee. Each individual receives relevant course recommendations based on unique data from Linkedln.com. NBCUniversal also provides internships and graduate programs.

About You

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the length of the program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
