Your Role

 Interns put inquiry and theory into practice. Responsibilities listed below:

  • Design and run simulations of regional- and national-scale power infrastructure, generation, and demand with the goal to publish results.
  • Improve existing modeling tools to more-realistically capture key characteristics of energy systems and markets, with a goal to contribute to open-source code repositories.
  • Participate in one or several of the following ongoing research projects, focused on gathering information about additional energy system components, developing models, and studying the implications of different deployment futures

In addition, certain roles can earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role. The salary for this role ranges from approximately $59,000 to $104,000. US-based employees gain access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, and fitness benefits.

    About You

    Listed below is the qualification to be eligible for the internship:

    • Must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program, or a research master’s degree program with intention of completing a Ph.D., in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
    • Experience with machine learning and data science packages such as Numpy, Scipy, Sklearn, and PyTorch.
    • Experience with probabilistic forecasting. 
    • Experience with constrained optimization of nonlinear systems.
    • Familiar with the power grid and renewable energy market.
    • Excellent Research and collaboration skills.
