Job Description
The RiSE Group at Microsoft Research is investigating the use of machine learning to detect defects in code leveraging both existing static analysis techniques and existing large language models specifically trained on code, such as the OpenAI Codex model.
Responsibilities
- Investigate ways to combine techniques, potentially resulting in approaches that are better than applying either independently.
- The intern will contribute to research projects by working closely with their mentors and other interns in a collaborative environment.
- During the 12-week internship, students are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the community.
Required Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a Ph.D. Program or a related research program doing research in the area of machine learning, artificial intelligence, programming languages, compiler/runtime, automated reasoning, software engineering, or related areas.
- Participation in the Research Internship Program requires that you are physically located in the United States or Canada for the duration of the internship.
- In addition to the qualifications below, you’ll need to submit a minimum of two reference letters for this position. After you submit your application, a request for letters may be sent to your list of references on your behalf.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in helping developers find defects in software, program analysis, software engineering, static analysis techniques, machine learning, and using large language models.
