Your Role

The Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) is a world-class machine learning team that continually advances state-of-the-art methods to solve a wide range of real-world financial problems using the company’s vast and unique datasets.

Work-life balance

The Work-life balance is rated 3.5 on Glassdoor. The JPMorgan Chase boss has become the latest financier to worry that his bankers are working too hard for their bonuses. The bank announced an initiative called “Pencils Down”, aimed at helping its employees improve their work-life balance. Previously, young bankers were allowed one work-free weekend a month. Now the bank wants them to take every weekend off unless they are working on a “live” deal. Work-free weekends are “realistic to what this generation wants”.

About you

They are looking for the next leaders! Key qualifications:

• Enrolled in a Ph.D. or MS in a quantitative discipline, e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Science, or related fields, or equivalent research or industry experience,
• Solid background in NLP, large language models, speech recognition and modeling, or personalization/recommendation. Familiarity with state-of-the-art practice in these domains
• Proficient in Python, and experience with machine learning and deep learning toolkits (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas)
• Scientific thinking, ability to design experiments and training frameworks, and to outline and evaluate intrinsic and extrinsic metrics for model performance aligned with business goals
