CSIS Story 

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is an American Think Tank that performs research and advocacy on some critical topics like political strategy, military, social policy, culture, and technology. The institute is located in Washington, D.C, and was founded as the Center for Strategic and International Studies of Georgetown University in 1962. 

Since its inception, the institute ‘has been dedicated to finding ways to sustain American prominence and prosperity as a force for good in the world’. Talking about its history, the centre was founded by Admiral Arleigh Burke and Ambassador David Manker Abshire. It was officially opened shortly before the Cuban Missile Crisis and Richard V. Allen was the first professional staff. 

Today, the institute serves as an information centre dedicated to providing research-based ideas to address some of the world’s biggest challenges. It publishes books, newsletters, reports, and commentaries to help the government, policymakers, businesses, and academia. The primary focus of publishing content is global affairs. 

CSIS is governed by an independent Broad of Trustees and audited by independent auditing firms. The organization does not represent any corporate, government, or private interests before the U.S. Government.

The average annual salary for Strategic and International Studies employees is $54,350. The Research Associate gets around $57,615 per year while other lower-level jobs in the Research department are paid around $20,767 per year. 

The average salary of a Research Assistant is around $47,119 per year while a Program Coordinator gets around $48,805 per year. The salaries at CSIS are based on the level of the job, its complexity, and the experience of the employee.
